How will you be sure to make your summer time both easy and safe? Perhaps you haven’t even considered the possibilities of anything ever going seriously wrong during your summer break. But, the truth is, you can easily be turned into a victim of violent crimes, or even horrible accidents by simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The whole point of the summer is to live it up, stay living easy, and make plenty of time for summer fun. However, if something horrible were to happen to you for lack of being safe, your whole summer would be ruined, and you could end up missing out on some major events that go on during summer vacation. This is why summer safety needs to be a priority on your list.

Enjoying the summer time, living it up, and living it easy can be quite simple to do. It can also be just as simple to make sure it is, not only easy, but safe as well. All you have to do is review and remember some basic rules.

Here is a list of some basic rules that will help you to make summer time both easy and safe:

  1. Follow the rules your parents set for you. Your parents have rules for you for a reason. That reason is not or to make your life difficult. Your parents actually have rules for you because they love you and they don’t ant anything to happen to you. So, when it comes to hanging out this summer, follow their rules. This will make it so you don’t have to worry too much about things you shouldn’t be doing, and it will also keep your parents happy with you. If you have happy parents, you will have parents who trust you. And if you follow their rules, you wont’ have to spend any of your valuable time during your summer break being grounded for breaking any rules.
  2. Always be sure to tell your parents what your plans are. Communicate with your parents. Let them know where you will be, who you will be with, and what time they can expect you back. This may seem a little ridiculous at first. But, if anything bad were to happen to you, like you becoming stranded somewhere, they would at least have a little bit of a clue on where to come looking for you. They would be certain to come to your rescue if they are well informed on your whereabouts.
  3. Don’t stay out too late. Again, this goes hand-in-hand with following the rules of your parents. But, even if you don’t have a curfew, it is a good idea not to stay out too late at night. It is easy to overlook the time during the cool summer nights when the sun sets late. But, you can still keep in mind that once it starts to get dark, it is a good idea to start wrapping up the summer activities you are involved in and start heading home. This will help you void the “freaks” that really do come out at night. It will also help keep you safe.
  4. Avoid bad scenes. Try to avoid bad scenes that seem to attract the wrong kinds of people. These kinds of scenes vary depending on where you live and where the teens are into hanging out. But, it is quite easy to avoid bad scenes. Just listen to your instincts, and notice your environment. If you feel uncomfortable, it is a definite sign that you should not be there. Avoiding bad scenes will also help in preventing you from being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
  5. Be prepared for emergencies. No matter what your favorite summer activities are, being prepared for emergencies is always a good idea and a necessity for summer safety. For example, if you love being outdoors and doing fun things in nature, like biking, hiking, fishing, or camping, always take an emergency kit with you when you are doing these things. Another example, for instance, is if you are going on a road trip, be sure your car is well maintained, check your tires, including your spare, and pack a jacket and a blanket in case you get stranded. Being well prepared for an emergency is a perfect way to make this summer vacation a safe one.
  6. Be sure to be true to yourself. This may sound like an easy rule to follow. But you may find yourself in a situation where it will be a lot harder to do this than it seems. Especially if all of your friends are doing something that you know may be wrong or unsafe. Do your best to trust your intuition to know and choose all of the right things and the safe things to participate in. Also, do your best to be brave enough to love yourself and respect yourself enough to keep yourself safe.

If you follow these simple basic rules, you will be sure to have plenty of fun in the sun this summer, yet keep yourself safe in the process.

You know it will soon be summer time, and soon the living will be easy and laid back. And now you know how to make this summer both easy and safe at the same time. Enjoy your summer!
