Some girls are just naturally thin. Maybe they have a naturally higher metabolism, or perhaps they are genetically designed to be very thin. However, thin doesn’t necessarily mean unhealthy. You can still look healthy while being super thin.
The best way to look healthy is to be healthy. Symptoms of girls who are unhealthy because they are too thin cannot be disguised. The following are some tips for getting and staying healthy, even if you are super thin:
You should be getting a certain number of calories every day in order to maintain your weight. There are many websites available to help you determine how many calories you should be eating a day. If you are very active, or if you tend to have a higher metabolism, your daily calorie needs will be higher than others’. As a general rule, you should follow the food pyramid and eat healthy foods like complex whole grains (whole wheat breads, brown rice and pastas, or anything made with whole wheat or whole grain); lean proteins like chicken, fish, eggs, and lean cuts of meat; plenty of fruits and vegetables, and the right kinds of healthy fat, such as though found in almonds and certain fruits, like avocados.
It’s important to always eat breakfast and never skip meals; people who are already super thin do not need to lose weight, and skipping food will only cause them to look unhealthy.
Even if you’re thin already, it’s still important to get exercise every day – just adjust your calorie needs accordingly so you don’t lose weight. Regular exercise helps to keep your joints and muscles strong and keeps your heart pumping in a normal, healthy way. In addition, regular exercise will help you to stay thin as you age, when your metabolism naturally starts to decline.
Get enough sleep
People who don’t get enough sleep look ragged and tired. They have circles under their eyes, their eyes might be bloodshot, and their movements are slow and sluggish. Aim for at least 8 hours of sleep a night. This will help you to be rested, alert, energized, and looking healthy throughout the day.
When super thin isn’t healthy
However, some people who are super thin don’t look healthy simply because they are not. Nowadays, it’s becoming more and more common for girls to fall into the dangerous and deadly world of eating disorders in order to make themselves thinner. Many time, girls with eating disorders don’t see themselves as thin.
Being super thin is not healthy when the following conditions are present. They may even signify a serious eating disorder.
- Thin, brittle hair or hair loss
- Constantly feeling cold, shivering
- Bruising more easily than before
- Dry skin and nails
- Rapid weight loss
If these symptoms are present, then chances are you might be suffering from a sort of eating disorder. In this case, there is no way to “look healthy” – eating disorders have a tendency to only get worse, meaning that if you don’t work to get help and correct the problem, more unhealthy symptoms will be present and lead to much more serious conditions.
Being super thin doesn’t automatically mean you’re unhealthy. You can still be healthy and thin by practicing healthy lifestyle habits like eating right, exercising regularly, and getting plenty of sleep.
